Homocysteine
Sulfur-containing amino acid whose elevation is studied as a marker of methylation dysfunction and cardiovascular risk.
Why test this
Elevated homocysteine suggests impaired methylation — often correctable with B12, folate, and B6. A quiet but important marker.
Optimal Range
< 8 μmol/L (optimal); < 10 μmol/L (acceptable).
Note: “optimal” ranges from longevity research often differ from standard clinical reference ranges. Always interpret results with a qualified clinician familiar with your full picture.
